Robert Forster to emcee the National Entertainment Journalism Awards, Honoring Joe Morgenstern
Pulitzer Prize-winning film critic Joe Morgenstern of the Wall Street Journal and public radio station KCRW will be honored Thursday, March 26, for his decades of work by the Los Angeles Press Club.
Morgenstern will be feted at a 7 p.m. reception at the Steve Allen Theater, 4773 Hollywood Blvd., two blocks west of Vermont Avenue. Oscar nominated actor Robert Forster ("Jackie Brown;" NBC's "Heroes") will emcee. NPR's former entertainment correspondent Kim Masters will also present.
Morgenstern is co-founder of the National Society of Film Critics.
He is only one of three film critics to have been awarded the Pulitzer
Prize. He worked for years for Newsweek and was a columnist for the Los
Angeles Herald-Examiner.
"No one is more deserving of this recognition than Joe Morgenstern," says Press Club President Chris Woodyard.
"He's one of the most talented critics in the business, a true straight
arrow when it comes to explaining which films are hits or misses."
The event will also feature the naming of the winners of the second
National Entertainment Journalism Awards, aimed at recognizing the
nation's most talented entertainment writers, broadcasters and critics.
Cocktails and Hor D'oeuvres will be served.
Based in the
nation’s entertainment capital, the Los Angeles Press Club is a
thriving non-profit devoted to excellence in journalism. The club has
produced the Southern California Journalism Awards for 50 years.
